Welcome
The Norwich City Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers was formed in Spring 2020.
All our members have a passion for textiles and for sharing their experience and skills with others.
We meet every Tuesday in at Carrow House, Norwich, where we have a large workspace available. Members can work on personal projects and take part in workshops and demonstrations, or just drop in to chat.
Please note change of meeting location from 12/11/2024. See the meetings tab for more details.
We also meet online over Zoom where we come together for virtual talks, demos, and workshops on Thursday evenings.
See our Google events calendar to find out what we’ve got in our diary.
Our guild works in partnership with local organisations and charities on outreach events in the community.
And we love to get out and about! We often pop up in various places around Norwich with our spinning wheels and looms giving public demonstrations.

Aims of the guild
The Norwich City guild is affiliated to The Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers and like all the other 100 or so guilds around the UK, we aim to:
- celebrate and preserve traditional crafting skills;
- improve and learn from each other; and
- promote and teach through community based activity.
As a new guild we have lots of plans to grow. We want to provide a supportive and friendly environment where everyone can pass on their skills or learn new ones. We will embrace opportunities to become involved in local life and to support the community where we can.
We have been fortunate enough to secure a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to help us to achieve our aims.
